From the README

Underlore is a fully offline, zero-dependency browser roguelike about descending through ten forbidden archives to recover the First Word. It combines a deterministic turn-based engine with animated CC0 pixel art, field-of-view exploration, equipment and inventory systems, consequential NPC encounters, procedural generation, audiovisual combat feedback, permadeath, and local scores.

Underlore did not begin as a polished game. It began as an incomplete seven-file JavaScript prototype: no webpage, no playable UI, a broken test command, thin content, and a syntax error.
