This is the prototype I wrote before Overdrive City. I wanted to find out whether a small open-city game with traffic, pedestrians and a police response could work with no engine and no assets, so I built it top-down in Canvas 2D first. Overdrive City reuses the same ideas (tile-map city, one- parameter drift, heat-based wanted level) in 3D and adds generated jobs and a day/night cycle.
