Apply the next queued turn. Add a new head cell in the current direction. Remove the tail — unless an apple was eaten, which is what makes the snake grow.
Turns are queued (queueTurn in game.js). Without a queue, pressing two keys between ticks could turn the snake back onto itself in a single frame. Food never spawns inside the snake — spawnFood builds the list of free cells and picks from that. Speed increases with every apple, down to a floor of 70 ms per tick.
