Open the live demo Source on GitHubSnake in TypeScript with an autopilot that plans its moves with A\*, checks them against a "can I still reach my tail" safety test, and can fill the whole board by following a Hamiltonian cycle with shortcuts.
Steering while the autopilot is driving hands control back to you. The game also pauses by itself when the tab is hidden or the window loses focus.
The settings panel picks the autopilot strategy, toggles the planned-path overlay, and sets walls or wrap-around edges, board size (10, 16 or 20 cells a side) and speed (6 to 40 moves a second).
