From the README

Ambient rim lighting for your screen that moves with your music.

Rimlight paints a soft glow around the edges of every display and drives it with whatever you're actually listening to — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, a game, anything your computer plays.

Most "ambient light" apps just tint your wallpaper. Rimlight listens to the audio your computer is actually playing, picks out the beat, and drives a real-time glow around the bezel of every screen you own. Nothing is recorded, nothing leaves your machine, and the microphone is never touched.
