Seven icons ring the screen: feed, play, clean, forage, medicine, sleep and status. An icon blinks red when the matching stat is critical.

A news ticker crawls along the bottom of the screen, above the lower icons: the weather, a season on its way, the lineage's standing goals, and breaking news — an evolution, a curio found, a season arriving. Any system can push a line onto it (app.pushTicker), so it is the game's ambient messaging channel; the toast remains for immediate feedback.
