Open the live demo Source on GitHubConway's Game of Life is a cellular automaton devised by mathematician John Conway. This implementation uses JavaScript to create an interactive version of the game. The simulation runs on a full-screen canvas with controls to start, reset, and randomize the grid.
The initial pattern constitutes the seed (here, the randomized map) of the system. The first generation is created by applying the above rules simultaneously to every cell in the seed, live or dead; births and deaths occur simultaneously, and the discrete moment at which this happens is sometimes called a tick.
